Families flock to Free Funday

Hundreds of local families flocked to Westfield Youth Clubs ‘Free Fun Day’ on Sunday.

The day was full of fun filled activities for all ages and included, bouncy castle assault courses, Gladiator Pugil stick challenges, Sumo wrestling crafts, football and crazy golf.

Westfield Football Club also got involved and not only ran the bar and BBQ but hosted an under 9s football match with local team, Tackleway playing away. Tony Harris from the club said: ”The atmosphere was fantastic and not only was it a great opportunity for our local youngsters to play football but also spend the day having some well deserved fun.”

The annual summer event has been running for five years and attracts more people every year. This year was no exception and families from Westfield and the local area came and enjoyed the last day of the summer holidays, picnicked, eat drink and have fun.

Westfield Youth club who runs the event, holds a number of fundraisers every year to raise money to be able to put on the Free day,

Dan Stratford from the Youth Club said: “It has been an amazing day and it has be fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“We raise money all year around to be able to put on a free event and for us, this is a real opportunity to give something back to the community and to see the Summer holidays off in style.

“Colossal Events who provide the equipment has outdone themselves this year and has provided us with an amazing selection of activities to cater for all ages and we would like to thank them for all of their help and support on the day and for providing a fantastic team.”

“Westfield Youth Club looks forward to welcoming everyone next year and hopes to make it bigger and better than ever before.”
