Endangered species-first post offices and now phone boxes

HARD on the heels of post office closures, some communities in the Chichester district are now facing the prospect of losing public phone boxes as well.

BT has announced proposals to axe up to 31 boxes in towns and villages across the area.

The district council's executive board approved the idea of consulting parish councils before deciding on a formal response in each case.

Proposed responses have already been suggested, with objections in some cases and agreement in others, but these could be changed in the light of parish comments.
