Efforts of Littlehampton’s watchful hero are hailed

Mike Cullern, of Madehurst Way, has been the chairman of the Littlehampton Neighbourhood Watch Association for several years.

Now, his efforts to improve the town have been rewarded with a special award, marking his unwavering commitment to the community he serves.

The Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Susan Pyper and the chairman of West Sussex County Council, Amanda Jupp, presented Mike with a certificate of achievement during a recent ceremony at the Manor House, in Church Street, Littlehampton.

The accolade was in recognition of Mike’s work with neighbourhood watch to raise ethnic and community integration and awareness among the town’s wards.

Mike was also presented with an award, on behalf of the national Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network, by John Wright for his outstanding contribution to the association.

Speaking after the ceremony, which was also attended by councillors and members of the Littlehampton Traders’ Partnership, Mike said: “It has been a very challenging year, but I am very proud of the group’s achievements.

“It is very gratifying that our hard work is finally being recognised, although there is still some way to go with regard to ethnic and community integration.”
