Drugs raid at Abbey Green

The raid took place just after 8am on Monday April 13 following a tip-off from a member of the public who had noticed a strong smell of cannabis in the area.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers quickly obtained a drugs warrant and carried out a search of the premise.

“They found 13 cannabis plants and drug-growing equipment, which were seized. No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.”

A neighbour, who saw police removing the plants in a van, said: “You could not make it up. You would never expect this in Battle, and right in the centre too. It has got everyone talking.”
