D-DAY FOR PORT

A CHANGE in ownership at Newhaven port could see Â£250 million of investment follow in its wake.

That is the hope of East Sussex county councillor Simon Radford-Kirby.

He has been busy working behind the scenes for some time with the present French owners, Newhaven Port and Properties (NPP), to ensure the best deal for the town.

Today (Friday) the new owner is expected to be chosen. NPP were due to sit down in France with councillors and officers from East Sussex County Council and Lewes District Council to make the final decision.
