Cruel thieves steal banner from Bognor charity

Workers at a Bognor Regis-based charity were stunned when an advertising banner was stolen from outside their offices.

It had taken 4Sight three years to get the 100 needed to pay for the promotional item for their biggest event of the year.

But it was stolen from the organisation's base on Victoria Drive soon after it was put up last week ready for this weekend's Hobbs Farm Music Festival.

Tessa Indran, 4Sight's senior fundraising officer, said: "We are really upset and disappointed someone would take this from the charity as we had worked really hard to purchase it."

The banner measured 10ft long x 3ft wide and had been displayed at various events across the Arun district during the summer.

Chichester firm Griffin Designs offered on Monday (September 7) to replace the banner for free in time for the festival.

"We are really thrilled at their generosity," added Ms Indran.

The festival takes place from 7pm tomorrow until 5.15pm on Sunday at Hobbs Farm on Bilsham Road, Yapton.

It will be the sixth festival thanks to farm owners Pat and Charles Stanscombe.

The previous five have raised more then 55,000 for 4Sight's work with blind and partially-sighted people around West Sussex.

A total of 21 acts will take to the stage. The weekend starts on Friday night with Modern Ruin featuring Lauren Halliday followed by Funk Bucket, Mike Fry and The Poopahs bringing the first evening to a close.

On Saturday, some great acts are returning such as The Feel, Cover Note and Soul Intentions.

Hobbs' favourite John Otway will be headlining Sunday's line-up along with Sixfifteen and The Curst Sons among others.

New acts include Dakota VI, Alan and Stewart, The Mulberries and Sarah Saville. Further entertainment will be provided by Billy Connearly as the master of ceremonies.

A large selection of real ale and cider will be available to enjoy at the bar, along with barbecues and a large selection of homemade cakes, snacks and jacket potatoes.

Stalls will enable festival goers to enjoy Indian jewellery, crafts, specialist cheeses to try and buy and face-painting among other services.

Children are welcome to join in the festivities and many families have found it to be a great family event with craft time and animal feeding times for the children to enjoy.

Camping will be available at the farm with breakfast available on both mornings for all the weekend campers.

Ticket prices are 30 for adults for the full weekend and 15 for children (six-16 years, under-fives free). Individual day and two-day tickets are also available.
