Angmering home burglary: Woman lost consciousness after finding unknown man in kitchen

Sussex Police has launched an appeal for witnesses following the incident at about 10am on Monday, December 19.

A police spokesperson said: “The victim found an unknown man in the kitchen of her property in Wilkinson Close.

“The man was going through the victim’s handbags when he was disturbed. The victim lost consciousness and woke to find the rings she was wearing had been taken, and the man had left the house.”

Police said that, at this time, it is unclear if the victim was assaulted by the man, or if she lost consciousness due to shock.

“She suffered minor injuries to her head and body,” the police spokesperson said.

“The rings are all silver, one of them featuring daisies around it. The next has a purple stone in the centre, with silver beads surrounding it. The third ring features two hearts intertwined and the fourth features a bow. They are very sentimental to the victim.”

Police said enquiries are continuing and officers are eager to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the burglary and may have seen a man making off from the area.

House-to-house enquiries have been completed but local residents are urged to come forward with any relevant CCTV or video doorbell footage from around the time of the burglary.

The spokesperson added: “It is also asked that local pawnbrokers be vigilant and report any customers looking to trade in rings matching these.

“Footage or information can be reported to Sussex Police online, or by calling 101, quoting serial 294 of 19/12.

“Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org, or by calling 0800 555 111.”
