With the new campaign people are being invited to pay for a day of care at the hospice by naming a special day.

The Milton family, from the Hastings area, chose Richard’s birthday (June 28) as their special day.

His niece Jess explained: “We had never been in the hospice before and were not sure what to expect.

“The care Rich, and all of us, received was unforgettable. Some of his friends decided to run the Hastings Half Marathon to raise money for the Hospice.

“With the help of so many people raising funds through pool competitions, runs, weddings, charity balls, raffles and donations we reached £1,000, then £2,000, then £5,000 and just kept going. We learnt that the cost of running the Hospice for just one day is £10,000. And that was it. We had our mission.

“On ‘Richard Milton Day’ we were able to stand and remember Rich with such pride and love as we achieved one of his last dreams. Keep shining Rich!”

Chloe Dyas, from the hospice said: “We all have days that mean something to us – birthdays; anniversaries; graduations; the list is endless - but at St Michael’s Hospice, every day is special. Therefore we have introduced a new flexible Pay for a Day scheme as an opportunity for individuals and organisations to really make a difference by supporting a day of care at the Hospice.

“You can choose a date that means something to you, simply make a one off donation or pledge to raise your chosen amount over time.”

If you would like to find out more about how you can Pay for a Day, please contact Darran on 01424 456387 or [email protected]. Those entering before April 2016 will be entered in a draw for Colour the Coast.
