Mark Lane, 29, opened Aqua Fish in Seadown Parade, off Bowness Avenue, with his wife Vicky after they spent more than a year searching for the right premises.

“I’m proud. There have been a few ups and downs along the way. The shop was empty for over two years when we got it.”

Vicky’s father owned an aquarium business in Brighton, but he closed the shop five years ago to retire.

“We’ve lived in Lancing our whole lives and we felt this service was also needed this way,” added Mark.

The launch event on Saturday saw MP Tim Loughton and district councillor for Sompting Carson Albury swing by the shop to get a full tour.

Mr Albury said: “The shop has been empty for years and we welcome this addition to our shopping area.

“The owners Vicky and Mark Lane bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to this family-run business and we wish them luck.”

Since the shop first opened its doors for trading on February 2, Mark said residents have been very supportive.

He said: “So many people were happy to hear about us, including those living in Lancing and Sompting.

“The shop has kind of completed the parade now and we have nice neighbours.”
