Council gets behind the Albion in final promotion push

The club is encouraging fans show their support for the Albion this season, as the club makes its final push for promotion to the Premier League.

At the start of last night’s meeting the Mayor Cllr Pete West spoke warmly of the council’s support for the Seagulls, and councillors joined in sharing their appreciation for the club.

Martin Perry, executive director from Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, was invited to join the occasion and thanked councillors for their well wishes.

Albion fans are urged to don their blue and white stripes, and Tweet @OfficialBHAFC using the #Together hashtag, in a show of support for the team.

The Albion flag will fly from the council’s three town halls in Brighton, Hove and Portslade from Monday (April 10).

The Seagulls are second in the Championship, nine points clear of third-placed Huddersfield, who have a game in hand. Brighton missed out on promotion last season when they drew the final game of the season at Middlesbrough – when a win would have taken them up – and then lost in the play-off semi-finals to Sheffield Wednesday.
