Chichester's Blues on the Farm cancelled because of flooding

Blues on The Farm which was due to run just south of Chichester from June 21-24 has been washed off the calendar and forced to postpone until September.

Organiser Julian Moores said he and his wife Kathy were devastated.

“The waterlogged ground conditions make it impossible for contractors to access the site to set up the Blues Festival.

“In view of the forecast for yet more rain and on advice, we have reluctantly had to accept that Blues on the Farm 2012 will have to be re-scheduled.

“The new dates are September 6-9. Please be assured that anyone unable to attend the re-scheduled Blues on the Farm Festival will be eligible to apply for a ticket refund.

“This has been a very difficult decision but has been made in everyone’s best interest. We value your friendship and support and the spirit you have all created over 21 years of Blues on the Farm and know how disappointed you will be but let’s all look forward to September 6-9 and having a great time.”

The loss of Blues On The Farm is the second major blow in as many weeks for Chichester-area festival-goers.

Last week, it was confirmed that Chichester’s Real Ale And Jazz Festival, generally held in the first couple of weeks of July, would not be going ahead this year – a fiercely competitive year which would see it up against extra events including the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

After disappointing sales last year, the Real And Jazz Festival team opted to bow out this year, regroup and return reinvigorated next year.
