Cheque hand-over

A £3,000 cheque is being handed over this evening (Thursday, April 23) by a Pagham councillor.

Ashvin Patel is donating the money to the Royal British Legion as the result of his year as Arun District Council's chairman.

Cllr Patel, who helps to Pagham and Rose Green on Arun District Council, will present the donation to his chosen charity of the Royal British Legion at his last official reception.

He raised the money during a hectic 12 months in office. "The role has given me an unprecedented insight into the lives and work of our residents," he said.

"I have been made to feel so welcome, been involved in so many exciting schemes and met so many new and wonderful people. I thank everyone for the support and their generosity."

Cllr Patel is handing over his money to the Littlehampton branch of the Legion, which safeguards past and serving members of the armed forces.
