Police, the fire and ambulance service are at the scene of the collision, southbound between the B2237 Worthing Road (Hop Oast Park And Ride Roundabout, Horsham) to Mill Straight (Southwater).
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “We are dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A24 near Southwater.
“The road is currently closed in both directions between Southwater and the Hop Oast roundabout.
“Please avoid the area if you can and thank you for your patience while this incident is ongoing.”
