Bexhill scores in Quality of Life survey

BEXHILL has been ranked third among the nation's seaside towns for its quality of life.

A survey by Halifax estate agents puts Christchurch top of the seaside quality of life list with Leigh on Sea second and Bexhill third.

Brighton is ranked 16th.

The survey shows that house-buyers are prepared to pay a premuim to have a home near the sea.

It shows that the average home in a seaside area costs three per cent more than the average property in a coastal county.

The Halifax puts the average house price in Bexhill at 193,405. The average price in seaside areas is put at 187,128 against 181,830 in counties bordering the sea.

Bridlington, where the average house price is put at 139,645, is ranked first among seaside towns offering best value for money with Bexhill ninth.

A Halifax quality of life index tracking overall living standards, ranks Bexhill 132nd out of all British towns.
