Bexhill Rotary club visit to St Richard's

St. Richard's Catholic College was delighted to welcome Bexhill Rotary Club to its Interact Club's first meeting of this year.

The event was attended by John Griffith, President, and Ray Dixon of the local branch.

John and Ray, along with other Rotarians, will attend regular meetings with St. Richard's Interact Club and support the club's fundraising and community events throughout the year.

During the first meeting of the year, John announced that St. Richard's Interact Club had been awarded a citation from Rotary International in recognition of the club members' "exemplary action and service." This will be presented to past and present members of the Interact club during a school assembly later this month.

This year's Interact Club members, under the leadership of new President and year 11 pupil Evie Clifford, are already planning and looking forward to forthcoming fundraising and awareness-raising activities. This term's efforts will focus on raising money for the RGA (Restricted Growth Association). The idea to raise money for this worthwhile cause came from a year 8 pupil who is a member of the association. Additionally, in November the Interact club will be encouraging staff and pupils to support the 'Love in a Box' Campaign which sends shoeboxes of gifts to children in countries such as Romania in time for Christmas.

The next community event for the Interact Club will be a tea party for senior citizens organised by the local Rotary Club. St. Richard's pupils will be helping to serve tea and chat with the guests as well as providing half an hour of entertainment during the afternoon. St Richard's Interact Club has also been asked to be guest speakers at the Rotary Club's regional Convention in October at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne.
