Bad-mannered people spoiled our whole day

I took my mother to see the Clown Parade in Bognor.

Mother is in a wheelchair so had to find a position where she would be able to see all that went on '“ the place I chose was at the traffic lights opposite the Regis Centre.

Good position, so I thought, and another person with her mother in a wheelchair joined me.

However, some other people, two men with their families, came and stood beside us, and as time drew near for parade to start they stood and obstructed our view.

I asked them to move so my mother, other lady in chair and some children who had been waiting to see the clowns could do so. I just got dirty looks and they moved even further our view was obstructed completely until the clowns were directly opposite us.

We missed all the fun.

These people are bad-mannered and give no thought for people worse off than themselves.

They could easily have stood back so everyone could enjoy the event.

I noticed there was no police presence except for one on a bike, who disappeared behind the Regis Centre. There was no control of keeping people on the edge of the road. The other police presence was with the parade itself.

Even when the clowns were opposite us, people were spreading out into the road.

We understood by the preview in the Observer 80 clowns would be involved in the parade. Were there really 80 there? It did not seem so to me.

The afternoon was a disappointment because of the content of the parade and also because of the bad manners of others.

Perhaps next year there could be a place for wheelchair users so they can fully experience the fun provided by clowns without having to ask others to move.
