A spokesman for East Sussex County Council said, "An apprenticeship is a great way to get qualified while gaining experience, training, and being paid a wage. It involves being trained by experts in their field, while at the same time building your knowledge and experience, both on site and in college."

Liz Sugden, May Gurney's Starting Out Officer is handling the recruitment process which will include a local assessment day in July. Liz says "We are committed to investing in our local communities through our well established apprenticeship programme and are working with our local training provider, Sussex Downs College, to develop courses for the scheme. This will give the recruits the option to study either locally or at the national CITB construction college at Bircham Newton in Norfolk."
