Appeal after man is attacked in Chichester car park

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a man in his 30s who was attacked in Spitalfield Lane.

The victim was leaving the Co-Op store in Chichester and was in the store’s car park when he was punched in the face, sustaining cuts and bruising, police said.

The assault took place between 2.45pm and 3.15pm on Thursday, February 4.

PC Stuart Bethan said: “This appears to have been a totally unprovoked assault on the victim without any warning.”

Police are keen to contact a man in his 20s, 5ft 7in, of medium build, with short blond hair and wearing a black woolly hat, who is thought to have seen what happened.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone else who may have witnessed the incident. They are asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 820 of 04/02.

A 44-year-old woman from Chichester has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and criminal damage. After being questioned she was bailed until Saturday, February 20.
