Angmering boy is the star of a new film

The delight and joy of a little disabled boy from Angmering has been captured in a new video produced by West Sussex County Council.

Bright-eyed four-year-old, Samuel Pallant, suffers with cerebral palsy. He is one of hundreds of young people and children to received weekly care as part of the council’s Fun and Breaks services – or FAB, for short.

Samuel is visited by volunteer carer Sue Smith, for two hours a week.

The video, which has now been posted on YouTube and the county council’s website, shows the pair playing and enjoying their time together.

Samuel’s mother, Penny, said that the support she and her family get from FAB is “invaluable”.

She is now urging other people to volunteer with the scheme to assist other families with disabled children in the county.

Penny said: “Really it’s invaluable.

“It means that I have two hours where I can either do paper work, I can go shopping, walk the dog. Sometimes I just chill out.

“It just gives me that bit of time to myself to get things done.”

She added: “He just loves seeing her. She has become like a part of the family. She’s a really special person in his life.”

Peter Evans, county council cabinet member for children and families, said: “This little boy has known Sue for half of his life, and you can see in the film that the relationship they have is very touching.”

You must be 18 and over to take part in the scheme. Qualifications aren’t necessary.
