And the beat goes on ...

Up to 60 students at Ringmer Community College are staging a sponsored 24 hour drum marathon on March 23 and 24.

All proceeds from the expected 1,600 profits will go towards a new full set of samba drums for the music department at the college.

Students will drum in shifts for the 24 hours with entertainment being provided for when the students are not drumming.

The event was last held three years ago and was a resounding success that enabled the department to buy a brand new professional drum kit.

It is hoped they will have the same success this time around.

On March 28 some 87 students from the college are travelling to Lewes, Delaware, in the United States for a 10 day musical tour.

Staying with host families will be members of the wind band, the big band, the orchestra, two string quartets, the choir and the rock band.
