Ambulance stuck in mud

THE Sussex Police helicopter was brought in to pluck an injured pupil from a school playing field after an ambulance became stuck in mud, blocking access.

An after-school rugby match on Bexhill High School's Gunters Lane playing field turned to drama on Wednesday.

The ambulance was called after a pupil began losing consciousness after suffering a suspected head injury.

But the ambulance responding to the emergency call became stuck in mud caused by recent heavy rain at a gateway between the first field and the second.

A 4x4 ambulance was called but the first vehicle was blocking the gateway.

As the daylight began to fail, the Sussex Police helicopter landed on the field and evacuated the casualty.
