A classic tale hilarious and nonsensical

Harvey, a play by Mary Chase, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1945 is brought to The Stables Theatre, Hastings, from July 12 to 20.

Directed byJoão Rei Villar, a Portuguese director and EMMY winning scriptwriter, the plot is simple.

Elwood P Dowd is a gentle man who has a friend ‘Harvey’, an imaginary, six foot tall rabbit.

Elwood has nice long conversations with him and doesn’t miss an opportunity to introduce Harvey to anyone he meets. His sister, Veta Louise, decides to put an end to Elwood’s eccentric behaviour and takes him to the sanatorium of Dr. Chumley.

It is a hilarious nonsensical story, which reveals the weaknesses of human beings.
