Easy way to walk 100 miles

DURING the coming spring and summer there is a chance to walk the 100 miles along the South Downs Way National Trail in stages from Eastbourne to Winchester the '˜easy' way without losing any sense of adventure and achievement.

Per-Rambulations, the Sussex-based walking group and guidebook publishers are again organising this annual event tackling the long distance trail in nine days over four weekends, in easy manageable and economic sections.

Starting on April 9 and 10, the walk continues on April 30, May 1 and 3, June 4 and 5 and July 2 and 3.

Each section will be between 9 and 13 miles in length, and will be guided and supported by Terry Owen and Peter Anderson and the experienced Per-Rambulations Team, but walkers will still be able to walk at their own pace.

They will be transported each day from their chosen pick up point throughout the county to the start and from the finish of each section.

Those completing the full distance will, on July 3, be able to attend a celebratory reception at Winchester where teas, coffees, (or maybe something a little stronger) sandwiches and cakes will be provided.

They will also receive the official South Downs Way certificate to remind them of their achievement.
