Felpham student designs costume for national show

Sixth-former Sophie Martin has been asked to design a costume for a musical being shown in London.

Sophie, 18, was invited by artist Andy Black to create and make the clothing for the main actress in Follow the Faun under the theme of creatures from myths.

This is an interactive musical physical theatre show which has performed around the UK and at the Edinburgh Festival.

Sophie said: “I am studying A-level textiles and would like a career in media/fashion so this is a great opportunity to get some experience.

“I have already started working on my design and I need to have it ready for early summer. I hope Mr Black and his team will be pleased by what I create.

“It will be great to see it live on stage being worn by the actress.”

Sophie recently watched the show in London with her textiles teacher, Tracy Constance. Afterwards, she was introduced to Mr Black who is its creator.

Follow the Faun is a production aimed at over 16s.
