Society of Bexhill Museums Ltd - August 22

The weather was damp but spirits high! Morning coffee and biscuits at 11am helped us on our exploration of Britain's last traditional working oast house, Hoppers huts from the 40's, 50's, and 60's, and displays of rural life in Kent over the last 100 years. Also of great interest were the Old and Water Street cottages which were saved from demolition

and transferred here from another site and rebuilt brick by brick. They gave an insight into life and building construction from the 1600's to the 1950's. Very nostalgic for the older one's of us!

At 1pm we set off for Penshurst Place, near Tonbridge, which contains the spectacular Barons Hall which was built in 1341.We were very lucky with the weather and after a most enjoyable outing set off for home at 5pm.

The next outing is on Monday, September 29 to the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square, London, near Oxford Street, cost only 14 each. Spaces still available.
