Colin Priest is a London-based artist, architect and educator as course leader for BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design at Chelsea College of Arts, University of Arts London.

To develop his project in St Leonards, he has researched the town’s architectural heritage through the expertise of Burtons’ St Leonards Society. St Leonards Foundary is inspired by the utopian visions of Burtons’ Regency architecture and Sidney Little’s modernist seafront structures. Priest’s intervention takes the viewer on a journey where they discover and frame their own interpretations of Hastings and St Leonards.

Priest’s work at The SPACE, in St John’s Road, encourages people to explore St Leonards’ architecture and obscure places. At 3pm on Saturday, March 22 at St Leonards Church, he will be with Christine Francis, from Burtons’ St Leonards Society, discussing his project in reference to architectural heritage.

Christine Gist, curator of The SPACE, said: “The 2014 programme at The SPACE will feature a range of artists’ temporary projects which will extend beyond St Leonards town centre to seafront locations which we hope will encourage local residents and visitors to explore the town’s special flavour.”
