The aim is to encourage people to try out the gym equipment provided in parks by Arun District Council and its partners.

Instructors from Freedom Leisure, the council’s leisure provider, will be on hand to demonstrate how to use the gym equipment during the free induction sessions.

Paul Wotherspoon, cabinet member for community services, said: “I would encourage as many people as possible to make the most of this fantastic outdoor gym equipment in our beautiful parks.

“I am confident that once people have attended an induction session they will be inspired to use it again and again.

“I would also urge people to use the other great indoor facilities in Arun provided by the council and run by Freedom Leisure as they offer a variety of ways to help people become healthier as well as using the outdoor gym equipment.”

The apparatus in each park was installed and funded by a range of partners, including Arun District Council and parish councils. These include King George V Playing Field in Main Road, Yapton; Jubilee Playing Field, in Elmer Road, Middleton-on-Sea; Jubilee Playing Field in Chalcraft Lane, North Bersted; and West Park, in Silverston Avenue, Aldwick.
