A fire between Portsmouth and Chichester has led to a large emergency response.

At around 5.30pm today (September 14), West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said its firefighters were 'currently attending a fire at a property on West Ashling Road, Hambrook'.

Four fire engines and a water carrier are on the scene.

West Ashling Road was closed between Newells Lane and Cheesemans Lane, with the public told to avoid the area if possible.

In a tweet, the fire service said: "If you live nearby, please keep windows and doors closed."
