Felpham Community College has joined forces with Bognor Regis Rotary Club in the campaign to eradicate polio.

The campaign, which aims to ensure the polio vaccination can be made available to people all over the world, has been running for more than 30 years.

This year, the Royal Horticultural Society has been helping to raise awareness by planting thousands of purple crocuses across the UK.

At Felpham, a crocus bulb was planted for every student across the school campus, making a total of 1,400, with the help of Rotarians Mary and Bog Pavard.

Michelle Kelly, assistant head teacher, said: “Felpham students feel strongly about campaigning for change and this was an ideal opportunity to get involved and to raise awareness of an awful disease that needlessly still affects so many people.”
