Michael Shannon delivers an incendiary performance, which is tipped for Oscar consideration, as a man convinced the end of the world is nigh in writer-director Jeff Nichols’s drama.

Curtis LaForche (Shannon) lives in a close-knit community in Ohio with his wife Samantha (Jessica Chastain) and daughter Hannah (Tova Stewart).

The doting husband experiences a series of terrifying dreams about impending apocalypse.
