The website will enable the community to keep up to date on the venue’s latest productions, engagement activity and artist collaboration.

Michael Ockwell, chief executive Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios, said: “Southampton’s newest arts venue and cultural hub for the city will be a place where everyone is welcome, and will open later this spring. The new platform, unveiled for the public today, currently features the local creative organisations that will be resident at MAST Mayflower Studios and contribute to a multi-genre programme of events.

“MAST Mayflower Studios will create opportunities for local artists to produce work at the venue while developing Engage, its education and outreach programme.

“Art supporters of all ages can find out how they can become part of Southampton’s fresh cultural hub. Young arts performers and practitioners can find out how they can join the theatre’s youth theatre and young company and gain some valuable experience. While, those who do not ordinarily interact with the performing arts are being invited in via MAST Mayflower Studio’s Community First Nights: a scheme which gives community groups an opportunity to access the magical experience of a night out at the theatre.”

Michael Ockwell added: “I am so excited for us to be able to launch our website. The community will be able to keep track of all the fantastic work we undertake as we establish MAST Mayflower Studios as Southampton’s new cultural hub on the South Coast. Collectively we will create opportunities for local people to come together and create work that tells stories about Southampton and for Southampton.

“MAST Mayflower Studios will develop an inspiring cultural programme that will aim to engage audiences across Hampshire. MAST Mayflower Studios is an integral part of Southampton’s UK City of Culture 2025 bid and aims to broaden Southampton’s rich cultural ecology. Visit the website and subscribe to updates to keep track of how we will be offering opportunities for young people, local artists and organisations while presenting some of the very best touring productions.
