Pupils at West Wittering School have been enjoying a sporty summer.
Year 3 and 4 pupils attended a ‘trigolf’ tournament at Goodwood, the first time the school had competed in a golf event.
The children improved rapidly over the the afternoon to finish fourth out of 11 teams.
Years 5 and 6 went to a cricket tournament at Pagham CC. There were eight teams including three very strong Rose Green teams. After an enjoyable afternoon with some terrific cricket, West Wittering managed fifth place overall.
Next was quadkids, a competition where every athlete has to complete a 60m sprint, 400m run, standing long jump and a vortex throw. After a tough afternoon, West Wittering had won convincingly.
Meanwhile, West Wittering School, with the help of Ali O’Boyle from SCS, held their sixth annual triathlon.
All key stage two pupils take part in a cycle around the field, a run around the roads surrounding the school and a swim in the school pool.
Each year group do a different distance for each part of the race. It was raining but this didn’t dampen spirits.
Every pupil completed the course with the most outstanding performance from Ella Bornhoft, who broke the school record for her age group for the third year running.
Years 5 and 6 later headed to the beach at West Wittering for a three-day watersports course at West Wittering Windsurfing Club, run by Simon Bassett and his team at X-train.
Pupils learned all about the tides and beach safety as well as learning how to surf, bodyboard and windsurf.
