Swing by for some softball at Six Villages

Six Villages Sports Centre – operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of West Sussex County Council – is hosting a ‘swing by softball’ tournament this Saturday (Aug 24) from 10am to 2pm.

It is in association with BSUK (BaseballSoftballUK) and Chichester Falcons Softball Club.

Local children and adults aged 14-plus are encouraged to enter individually or as part of a team. The tournament is ideal for rounders, softball and baseball fans, as well as those looking to get fit or try something new this summer.

Beginners and experienced players are welcome, so there’s no need to worry if you’re out of practice or a bit rusty with a bat and ball.

Freedom Leisure will provide players with all the necessary equipment on the day and members of the Chichester Falcons Softball Club will be on hand to umpire and offer guidance to beginners.

“We’re very excited about the softball tournament and are actively seeking individuals to take part,” said Freedom Leisure centre manager Simon Wagstaff.

“It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played before - come along and give it a go! It’s set to be a fun event and a really good workout too. With any luck we’ll have some nice weather so we’re encouraging players to bring plenty of water and sun cream.”

Registration for the swing by softball tournament costs £1 per person and each team entered must include ten players. To sign up or for more information, drop into reception or call 01243 546830.

For those interested in taking up softball, Six Villages Sports Centre will be running regular swing by softball sessions from October. For more information, visit www.freedom-leisure.co.uk
