Chichester Bowmen’s Mandy Linn has become the southern counties ladies’ longbow champion following wins in Hereford rounds on both days of the Southern Counties championship meeting in Winchester.

Linn is an experienced recurve archer who took up the sport eight years ago, but she has been shooting longbow for only just over five months – and only one month outdoors.

She has also achieved her grand master bowman classification for longbow, the highest achieveable class and reached by only the top one per cent of archers in the country.

Chichester Bowmen have also celebrated a win in their first leg of the Albion League, a tournament held between Sussex archery clubs.

The Chichester team of Ross Carr, Neil Sampson, Felix Borg and Roger Welby shot a total of 3,214 to beat Friar’s Gate’s score of 3,166.
