Three of Chichester’s finest young fencers fought their way to the podium in the recent Sussex under-18 epee championships.

Charlotte Beadle – who at only 15 achieved an amazing third place in the adult completion at the Brighton Open – fought her way to a silver medal in the women’s competition.

Chichester’s young men, however, delighted their coach Sharon Blackman by producing an all-Chichester final.

Robin Elliot and Josh Briffett had a close-fought battle but Briffett’s hunger for the win, combined with some lightning-fast attacks, saw Elliot take the silver and Briffett become the new Sussex under-18 champion.
