Pearce says Bognor have to plan for a drop in income in the post-lockdown world of up to 25 per cent– a position many clubs are in.

He is confident the likes of skipper Harvey Whyte, James Crane and Keaton Wood will rejoin for the 2020-21 season.

The trio were among a players’ work party who helped tidy up the ground last weekend in preparation for the new season. Also helping were Chad Field, Charlie Williamson, Ashton Leigh and Michael Baker.

Pearce said: “Football’s biggest problem is uncertainty. Clubs’ income will be hit by fewer people attending games and lower spends on items like programmes, bars and sponsorship.

“We may have raised £50,000 through the crowdfunder but that goes towards £300,00o being spend on work on the ground.

“We’re not rich!”

The Rocks are set to visit Chichester City, Selsey, Horndean and Gosport for friendlies before the likely league start on September 19.
