Jason Prior is set to be given the chance to earn a dream move to his hometown club.
The Portsmouth-born striker has been added to the list of Blues triallists who will be offered a run out against Aldershot in a friendly next Wednesday.
It’s a chance for the 24-year-old to impress after being released by AFC Wimbledon at the end of last season.
The former Moneyfields man made a move into full-time football last year with the Dons following an unsuccessful trial at Premier League Newcastle.
But his time with the League Two side was punctuated by injury problems.
A knee injury was followed by a horrific double leg break – after being on the receiving end of an X-rated tackle from Crawley’s Hope Akpan – which left Prior sidelined for nine months.
The ex-Bognor hitman made a full recovery from that incident and spent time with Conference Premier outfit Dartford – who he will also trial for today – at the end of last season.
Now Prior has the chance to impress the Pompey coaching staff as he bids to find himself a new club.
He will be joined by Gosport keeper Nathan Ashmore, who is also being given a run out in the behind-closed-doors friendly.
Former French under-21 duo Herold Goulon and Malaury Martin are also in line to play against the crisis-hit Shots.
Goulon has spent time at Blackburn and Middlesbrough, while Martin also featured at the Riverside. Charlie Oatway and Kevin Amankwaah are other names lined up to play.
