Doncaster have not given up on retaining Pompey target Kyle Bennett.
The out-of-contract left-winger held talks with Paul Cook on Thursday as the Blues close in on a move.
The new Fratton Park boss is an admirer of the 24-year-old, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Yet boss Paul Dickov is refusing to concede defeat against Pompey – and is desperate to keep the highly-regarded Bennett with the League One club.
Dickov said: ‘There’ll be interest in Kyle because he’s a good player but all the conversations I’ve had with him and his representatives are that he wants to stay.
‘We’ll sit down with him and his agent this week.
‘I know about the interest and they’re not trying to do it behind our backs – we’re aware of what’s going on – but all the indications are that he wants to stay.’
