Guy Whittingham has admitted he doesn’t know whether Ricardo Rocha will be returning for pre-season this week.

The new-look Blues squad are in on Thursday for the start of two days of fitness testing.

Then on Monday, July 1, full training will begin in the build up to their League Two campaign, which starts just four weeks later.

However, Whittingham insists he remains in the dark over the Pompey future of the popular Rocha.

An offer has been made to keep the veteran defender at the club, with the Blues manager meeting him for coffee last week.

As it stands, though, they continue to await a definitive answer.

Whittingham said: ‘Ric’s enjoying his time off.

‘I saw him a couple of days ago and had a coffee with him, just chatting and seeing where he is and he is quite relaxed about things, so we will see.

‘It (the offer) is still there, nothing has changed, we would like to see him here but there is a lot for Ric to think about.

‘I don’t know myself what he will do.

‘We have said to him we would like him to be here and the offer is still open and the same.

‘We are waiting for an answer from him, the ball is in his court.

‘Nothing has been arranged for him to come to pre-season either.

‘He is just relaxing as far as I know, he looked pretty good the other day.

‘He’s been abroad somewhere and got a deeper tan than he had before.

‘So I think he’s just enjoying the time off!’
