In pictures: Roof comes off at Nyewood Lane ... and the rest of the stands follow

The roof normally only comes off at Nyewood Lane if a Harvey Whyte thunderbolt earns the Rocks three points in injury time. But now the roofs and bit more have all come a cropper at once..

Monday was the day the bulldozer moved in to take the redevelopment of the Nye Camp up a gear - demolishing the main stand, its smaller neighbour and any other bits of brickwork standing in the way of the new 367-seat grandstand due to be built before the start of next season.

Some soft demolition had been done beforehand to make this main stage of demolition a bit more straightforward and it didn't take long for the stands and all the memories that have been made while they've stood there at the side of the pitch to be dismantled.

Photographer Tommy McMillan was there to capture action of a different type to that he is used to taking pictures of at the Lane, and you can see many of his images from a day of demolition in the slideshow above.

One onlooker quipped as the main stand disappeared: "It was older than Jack Pearce himself."
