Burgess Hill FC have expressed sadness at news Scott Kirkwood has left the club after four seasons.

Manager Ian Chapman spoke with the player, who felt he needed to be playing regularly at this time of his career.

A BHFC statement said: “s much as Ian do not want him to leave, at this time, Ian was unable to promise him that.

“Ian and the club would like to thank him for all he has done for our club. He has been a pleasure to be around on and off the pitch, and wish him every success for the future.”

On Friday the Hillians received international clearance and completed the signing of Cheick Toure – a centre-half who last played in France for FC Lorient.

The club added: “We also completed the re-signing of centre forward Sam Gargan. Sam has been training with us pre-season and returns to the club after a brief spell with Whitehawk FC at the end of last season.”

Both new men featured in the 1-0 win over Enfield on Saturday.
