PRE-SEASON training is going well for the Rocks – but manager Jamie Howell has warned fans not to worry too much about the results of the games against sides from Stoke, Pompey and Reading.

Bognor are in their second week of training but have welcomed half a dozen or so new faces into the camp and the squad is far from being the finished article.

That may show when they take on academy, under-21 or first-team line-ups from their three Football League visitors in the next 13 days.

Howell said: “Training has been going well but we have a lot of changes in the squad and the friendlies will be part of seeing the players develop, gel and build their fitness, rather than games we play once everything is in place.

“We’re looking at a number of new faces and it takes time to work out what they can do for us and how we might play. The teams we’re playing in our first three games should all be sharper – they’re from pro clubs and will have been training longer than us.

“It’s not about results, it’s about finding out about the players we have at our disposal.”

Midfielders Charlie Oatway and Jake Thomson and winger Alex Parsons are among those to have joined in at training with a view to possiblt moves to Nyewood Lane.

The Rocks are due to host a Stoke academy side next Tuesday. Pompey visit on Saturday week and then a Reading XI are at Nyewood Lane on Tuesday, July 22.

Games at Portchester and Worthing and at home to Whitehawk follow those matches.

Meanwhile, the Rocks have announced season-ticket prices for the new season. There’s a slight increase, although matchday admission prices are being frozen for the fourth year in a row.

Adults will pay £165 for a ground season ticket and £183 if they want to sit in the stand, while for those aged 65-plus, tickets are £135 and £153. Under-18s will pay £35 for a ground season ticket.

These cover all 23 home Ryman League fixtures.

Admission on the day stays at £9 for all adults, £3 for under-18s.

Season tickets will be available from July 19 – the day of the Pompey friendly. Anyone wanting one should see Maurice Warner in the office at any pre-season friendly from that date or any Monday to Friday from 10am to midday. Payment by cheque or cash can be accepted.
