The University of Chichester men’s firsts are preparing for an exciting season in the British Universities and Colleges men’s football premier south division, the highest league in university football.

It’s the first time in almost ten years since the university have competed at this level.

After the success of the previous two seasons, where the team have remained unbeaten and achieved back-to-back titles, preparations have been under way since August to continue their rise in university football.

A pre-season camp, beach soccer sessions, weekly morning fitness classes, sport science expertise, a strength and conditioning coach and the use of performance analysts will aid the development of the players.

While retaining the majority of the squad from last season, they have also added a number of freshers from more than 150 trailists in September.

Having beaten St Mary’s University’s first team 10-2 in a pre-season friendly, it is evident preparations for their first league game are on track.

Chichester arew due to play Glamorgan University at Oaklands Park - the home of Chichester City - at 5pm this Wednesday, October 17.

Joint managers Scott Dormer and Danny Potter are relishing the opportunity to test their team against some of the country’s finest sporting universities, including the likes of Team Bath.

Sid Fletcher, sport development manager at UoC, added great credit to the team for their work on and off the pitch over the past few seasons.

Chichester are one of only three universities in the UK that can boast both men’s and women’s teams in the highest league.
