Rocks fire blanks again - but Pagham, Selsey and Chichester win

The Rocks’ terrible run of league form continued with a 1-0 home defeat to Concord Rangers.

A 59th-minute Tony Stokes strike was the only goal of the game, while defender Sam Pearce missed a penalty six minutes later on his second Rocks debut.

It was a tight game but another afternoon without goals will be a disappointment to the management and fans - especially after the Rocks hit three past Conference South side Eastbourne Borough in the county cup in midweek.

The Rocks travel to Margate next Saturday hoping to turn around league form that’s seen them slip to 11th.

There was much brighter news for local sides in the Sussex League - all four Observer-area teams won.

Pagham got their bid for honours back on track with a 3-0 win at East Grinstead thanks to goals by Howard Neighbour, Jake Hawker and Joe Briggs.

Selsey are in superb home form and did the business again with a 2-0 victory over Ringmer.

Another Ken Hagan goal won it for Chichester at Sidley.

Pagham are seventh, Selsey 16th and Chichester 20th in the Sussex League table.

In division two, Midhurst won 6-4 at home to Saltdean in a Rotherfield goal feast to go sixth.

We’ll have all the local football action in the Observer on Thursday - send your reports to by 5pm Monday.
