PAGHAM’S build-up to this Saturday’s Sussex League opener continued with a 2-0 win over North Greenford, a team managed by former Crystal Palace player Neil Shipperly who play in the Southern League.
The Lions took their time to relax but soon started to dominate, with Scott Murfin scoring a great solo goal just before half-time - a low drive from the edge of the area.
The second half saw Pagham completely dominate and add a second: from a well-delivered Daren Pearce free-kick, Howard Neighbour’s header was saved only for Jo Briggs to smash in the rebound.
Lions boss John Price said: “On the whole it was a very pleasing last game to round off the pre-season campaign.”
Pagham have a tough start to their county league campaign at East Grinstead on Saturday followed by a home game versus Littlehampton on Tuesday.
Bolstered by new signings Russel Hardwell, Lee Arnell, Lewis Hamilton and Tom Jefkins, they will aim to get off to a good start ahead of a massive FA Cup tie at home on August 17 to last year’s FA Vase finalists Tunbridge Wells.
