CHICHESTER CITY Ladies’ development team ended the campaign with their second straight win in Caz Henry-Evans’ last game in charge after seven years – a 6-0 success away to C&K Basildon Reserves.

Chichester began moving all over the park and Jess Pike and Becca Allen were a constant threat up front.

Captain Gemma Halford came out of defence and her ball over the Basildon defence was latched on to by Allen, who finished into the roof of the net.

A Basildon effort hit the bar, but Chichester seemed in control. A great one-two between Jemma Cottam-Verbruggen and Zoe Hughes-Jones set up Georgia Selby, who buried the ball into the bottom corner for 2-0.

Chichester’s football was their best of the season and Hannah Chalk, Laura Ingram and Halford were comfortable at the back.

Chalk played a great through-ball for Rachel Towler and her cross-shot came back off the post and Pike was on hand to tap the ball in.

This was a great way to end the season and the managing career of Henry-Evans.

Amber Beaven came on and was an immediate threat.

A corner delivered into the box by Selby bounced around and shots were blocked until the ball fell to Beaven, who smashed it in with her left foot.

Skye Gould replaced Ingram and was straight into the game but her long-range effort went wide.

Jodie Pallant replaced Hughes-Jones and was the next on the scoresheet when Gould laid the ball off to her on the edge of the area and she slotted it in the bottom corner.

Towler hit the post again from close range before a sloppy back pass allowed Allen to round the keeper and lay it off for Towler to make it six.

This was a great way to end the season and the managing career of Henry-Evans.

She said she was very proud of their performance and happy to end her reign as manager on a huge high with a performance that showed the improvement the team had made this season in a very tough league.
