CHICHESTER concluded their 2013-14 Sussex League division one campaign with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Horsham YMCA.

City were on the attack after just two minutes when a Luke Kilner free-kick led to the unmarked Julian Boniface hitting the bar.

George Landais gave Chichester a 14th-minute lead, firing into the top corner from 20 yards after YM had given away possession.

YM, who still had a slim chance of promotion and were consequently hungry for victory, soon got back on level terms. Nick Sullivan was knocked to the ground while challenging for the ball and the referee awarded a soft penalty that was converted by Dave Brown.

It should have been 2-1 to YM before half-time, with both Brown and Brad Curtis being denied by the woodwork.

The hosts made hard work of it after the break and, despite creating numerous chances, it seemed they were heading for a draw with Anthony Ender in superb form.

A cross from the left found Sullivan but his low drive was brilliantly turned round the post by the City keeper.

The winning goal came in the 85th minute. A shot from Sullivan was parried, and Ashley Dugdale followed-up before Sulllivan tapped in from close range.
