Pagham v Pulborough
Pagham remain top of division three of the Sussex League after seeing off Pulborough.
The hosts batted first and, having been put in on a good wicket, they made a steady start – reaching 34 before losing Nilushan Nonis for 21.
Skipper Stuart Rutter and Joe Metz put on 121 for the second wicket but Metz was caught on the boundary for a season’s-best 62.
Pagham decided to go for quick runs and lost wickets regularly but they got to 228 for six after 50 overs.
Rutter batted through 48 overs to score a magnificent 101.
For Pulborough only Imran Khan caused the batsman any problems, with his well-controlled spin earning him two for 85 from 25 overs.
Pulborough were soon in trouble against the pace of Nabib Rahman and spin of Wayne Green and were reduced to 36 for four.
Although the middle order showed some desire to make a game of it, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for 105 in the 35th over.
Rahman starred with the ball, finishing with five for 24.
The result keeps Pagham at the top at the season’s halfway point.
