LETTER: Gagging laws are a step towards a police state

I WOULD like to reiterate a recent letter about the gagging law.

The passing of this law means the people can no longer band together with groups such as 38 degrees or charities to lobby MPs and Lords to persuade them a proposed law is not in the people’s interest.

It was charities and sites like 38 degrees that prevented the government closing Lewisham Hospital.

Now it seems the government has made it illegal for these type of groups to challenge the government.

You may well think this is a step towards a police state!

I could not possibly comment.

Our MP Nick Gibb voted with the government (as usual) to curtail our freedom to band together to oppose bad government legislation.

I will remember this come the next election, I hope you do, too.
