SHOPPERS looking for Christmas bargains are being warned to watch out for festive fakes which could be dangerous by West Sussex trading standards officers.
The officers also reminding people of their rights when shopping online or over the phone – consumers can return most items unless they are personalised.
“In the lead-up to Christmas, counterfeit products become more widespread in markets, shops and on the internet. They may seem like a bargain – but the goods will be of inferior quality and in some cases even dangerous,” said head of trading standards Graeme MacPherson.
The advice from trading standards was quite straightforward: buy from reputable sources.
Anyone with concerns about possible counterfeit items should report to Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.
